Old Maid is a match game and a fun kids activity to play!
It's one of the easy card games that kids will learn quickly.
Remove 3 Queens (except the Queen of Spades) from the deck before playing. The Queen of Spades, is the Maid and stays in the deck.
Each player picks a card, and the player with the highest card shuffles the cards and deals them all out - one at a time and face down.
Each player looks at her hand and pulls out any two cards that match in value (for example two 7's or two Jacks).
Each person lays her matches face down in a pile beside her.
Once each player sorts his matches, the player to the dealer's left holds his cards so noone can see them.
The player to his left has to choose a card from the first player's hand, trying to match a card in his hand with the new card.
If a match is made, the pair is placed in his face-down pile.
Then the player who just chose a card offers his cards to the next player to the left.
This continues around in a circle. Players pick cards from each other and lay their matches face down.
At the end of each hand, the player holding the only Queen loses. Make sure you're not that player!
