States Game

The object is to find as many state license plates as you can.

Make a list of all 50 states and give each child a copy.

Players check out passing cars license plates to find the states they need. Only one player can use a plate and claim a state. Once she finds a state she needs, she crosses it off her list.

Players get one point for each state they find.

Hawaii, Washington, DC and Canadian plates score 2 points.

At the end of a preset amount of time, or the end of the trip, the player with the most points wins.

This is a very fun game to play! We always played this on road trips.

It was fun to see what out of state plates we could find as we went on vacation.

It's also fun to just look at the different plates and see what they have on them. Look at the colors, too. Some of them are really very pretty!

Some have the state emblem on them, some have fruit on them, and some have flowers on them!

You can even play by colors of license plates, too. Pick a color like blue and see how many of the plates have blue on them.

For more of a challenge, you can say the plate has to have blue letters before it counts or blue around the edge of the plate.
