Scent Games

Scent Games are fun indoor party games, cooking games for kids and kids learning games.

2 or more players
Ages: 2 - 5
Need food items you have at home

These games help children develop their sense of smell.

It's a fun activity for kids birthday party games and where a small group of children are gathered.

For one game, gather up 4 soaps, body washes or body lotions. 2 of these should be the same.

Have the first child close her eyes, then hold the items up, one at a time, for her to smell.

When she's done, she'll tell you which numbers she thinks match up. Be sure and say "number 1, number 2, number 3 and number 4" as you let the children smell the items.

Play continues in this manner until every child has a turn to go.

The winner is the child who identified the matching smells correctly. There can be more than 1 winner.

You can also separate the kids into teams. The team who has the most correct number of smells at the end of a certain number of rounds or after a set amount of time is up is the winner.

Another way to play the game and get kids involved in cooking, is to have something on hand to bake.

Put two of the same ingredients in 2 different bowls or cups.

The kids close their eyes and try to correctly identify the 2 bowls or cups that have the same smell.

The winner is the child (or children) who guess correctly.

When the game is over, let the kids help bake the cookies or cake.
