Monkey In The Middle

Monkey In The Middle is one of the fun summer games for kids. This is one of the easy to learn and play kid games.

Another fun classic children's game that's been around for a very long time!

Teachers can play it with students for recess breaks or when it's time for gym class.

3 players
Ages 6 and up
Need: kick ball

Begin with 2 players standing 10 feet apart and facing each other. The third player will get in the middle between them.

The 2 players on the outside start throwing the ball back and forth between them, catching it as it is thrown to them.

The player in the center has to try and intercept (catch) the ball as it is being tossed above him.

If the middle player grabs and catches the ball, he isn't the monkey anymore.

The player who threw the ball when it was intercepted is the new monkey in the center.

This game can also be played with more players.

There will always be one person in the middle trying to intercept and catch the ball.

You can play as many rounds as you set at the beginning of the game, or you can set a certain amount of time and play until the time is over.

It's nice to let each child be the monkey at least once! To make that occur, you can break the kids into teams of 3 or 4 kids.

Or set a time limit and if the monkey hasn't caught the ball, have another child go into the center.
