London Bridge

London Bridge is one of the fun child party games, teamwork games for kids, games for young kids and group games for kids.

8 or more players
Ages: 3 and up

Begin with 2 players holding hands high in the air above their heads to form the bridge. One kid will be the gold tower, the other the silver tower.

All the other kids line up behind each other behind the bridge. They begin to go under the bridge as everyone sings:

"London-Bridge's falling down,
Falling down, falling down.
London-Bridge's falling down,
My fair lady."

After "lady" the bridge "collapses" as the 2 players let their arms fall down. The player passing through at that time is captured.

The captured player then stands on one side of the bridge hoping she has chosen the gold tower.

Players don't know what tower they have chosen until the game is over.

The play then continues as before but the verse changes to:

"Build it up with iron bars, iron bars, iron bars,
Build it up with iron bars,
My fair lady."

Once again, after "lady" the bridge falls and the player underneath is captured and picks a side to stand on.

Play continues as before, this time the players sing:

"Build it up with steel and stone, steel and stone, steel and stone,
Build it up with steel and stone,
My fair lady."

Another player is captured and play continues for as many rounds as the kids want to play.

Another verse can be:

"Build it up with silver and gold, silver and gold, silver and gold,
Build it up with silver and gold,
My fair lady."

Or players can make up their own verses.

When one player remains uncaptured everyone sings:

"Off to prison you must go, you must go, you must go,
Off to prison you must go,
My fair lady."

Once the last player is captured, she picks her side and stands there. Each member of the bridge now reveals which tower she is, gold or silver.

The winning players of London Bridge are the players who chose the gold tower.
